In Ghana the Minister for Petroleum, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has announced that the country will receive the third Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel for the Offshore Cape Three Point Sankofa development by early 2017.
According to him, the second FPSO for the Tweneboa-Enyera-Ntomme (TEN) development has already been received in the country and probably, a fourth will be seen in the future.
“Our oil and gas and power sectors have long been recognized as key catalysts for Ghana’s speedy ascent to the league of upper middle income countries. It is for this recognition that the Ministry of Petroleum is pursuing a menu of policy goals aimed at strengthening linkages between the oil, gas and power sectors,” he said.
He stated that the Ghanaian government has put measures in place to move the oil and gas industry forward as well as to certify that the resources yield a positive result adding that in the past two years, several foreign oil and service companies transferred their regional offices to Ghana, making the country the regional center of the petroleum industry, the Business and Financial Times reports.
Operated by Tullow, the TEN Project is Ghana’s second major oil development. The project is situated in the Deepwater Tano block, about 60 km offshore Western Ghana. First oil from the fields are expected by July/August 2016 with a facility capacity of approximately 80,000 bpd.
