Dynamic Industries, has been awarded a contract to renovate a 500 ton production platform and 300 ton jacket for Eni’s Nene field, offshore the Republic of Congo.
The company said it will be using its inventory of used structures for the project. The offshore production facility will depart for Eni’s Nene field, which is expected to contain 140,000 boe/d in May 2016.
“In today’s low commodity price environment, offshore fields that are challenged from a budget and schedule perspective can benefit greatly from utilizing our large inventory of offshore structures. We estimate that the budget savings versus a new build was upwards of 65%. In addition, the environmental advantages of a closed loop system, where platforms and jackets removed by Dynamic and its partners are refurbished and returned to active use, provides another example of Eni’s continued commitment to both the environment and reserve replacement.” Jeff Clement, COO of Dynamic Industries, Inc. US Fabrication Division, told Offshore Energy Today.
Located in the Marine XII Block, about 17 km from the coast, the Nene field was discovered by Eni in August 2013. The field is situated at a water depth of 28 meters and close to current plants, produces from Djeno pre-salt formation 2.5 km below ground level.
The company through its subsidiary Eni Congo SA, operates the Marine XII with a 65% share stake alongside New Age with 25% and Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo with 10%.
