NNPC reiterates commitment to upgrade Kaduna refinery

Tuesday, 29 November 2016 13:01

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has said that it would rehabilitate the Ajaokuta-Abuja-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline, as well as upgrade and expand the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company Limited, in order to move the facility towards the path of growth and profitability.

This was disclosed by the Group Managing Director, NNPC, Maikanti Baru (photo) during a town hall meeting with the management and staff of the KRPC in Kaduna.

The refinery, which resumed production late last year after it was repaired, stopped production early this year due to attacks on petroleum pipelines by militants.

The continuous damage of oil installations in the Niger Delta has made the corporation to increase its crude oil exploration and energy development effort in the northern part of the country.

Nearly two weeks ago, NNPC firm revealed that it was increasing its search for crude oil in the North-East geopolitical zone, and previously announced that it had been directed by the President to explore for crude in the Lake Chad Basin and the Benue Trough.
