Erin Energy on Wednesday announced that an Island Constructor light well intervention (LWI) vessel has left Skalevic, Norway and is heading to the Oyo field, offshore Nigeria.
According to the company, the vessel is to be used for LWI service on the Oyo-8 well. The well has been obliged by the inability of the sub-surface controlled sub-surface safety valve (SCSSV) to open after a prearranged production restriction in the Oyo field.
The vessel is expected to be received at the Oyo field by mid-April and work will commence immediately it arrives.
Erin anticipates to conclude the intercession and re-opening of the SCSSV in April 2016. The company added that it believes the intercession can be completed in a few days and afterwards re-start production from the well.
Erin Energy has a 100% interest in Oil Mining Lease 120 which includes the Oyo Field which is situated about 75 km from the coast in water depths from 200 to 500 meters as well as the Oil Mining Lease 121 situated offshore Nigeria.
The Oyo Field began production in December 2009 and the wells are attached to the Armada Perdana FPSO, Offshore Energy Today reports.
