Eni has revealed plans to increase production at its Nooros field to 1billion cubic feet per day of gas in 2017, rather than the formerly detected 700 million cubic feet daily production.
The Italian company was expected to boost gas production from three wells in the Nooros field by 180mcf/d in September 2016.
According to an official from Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Co (EGAS), the planned $450million production development of the Nooros field is expected to increase gas outputs to 700mcf/d by the end of 2016 as the field currently produce over 350mcf/d in addition to 3,000b/d of condensates.
The Nooros field, which was discovered in July 2015, already reached a production of 65.000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in May and was expected to reach 120.000 boe/d by year end 2016. This new discovery, further proves the significant potential of the Great Nooros Area, which is now estimated to hold 70-80 billion cubic meters of gas in place.
Egypt’s natural gas production has reduced to 4.04bcf/d from the 4.05bcf/d produced at the beginning of August.
The official added that gas production rate is likely to increase to 4.1bcf/d by the end of September and will remain constant until the end of 2016, following the connection of several offset wells to the national production in order to pay for resource maturity, which makes Egyptian natural gas production drop by about 1.2bcf every year.
He says the increase in gas production of 700mcf/d will be from the additional three wells at Eni’s Nooros concession which will be brought online in September, Egypt Oil and Gas news reports.
