Senegal: Former Blaise-Diagne airport domain owners report bad resettlement condition

Wednesday, 02 May 2018 17:23

Gathered in the framework of a forum held in Soun, under the theme “Land management in Keur Mousseu commune”, the population displaced during the construction of Blaise-Diagne Diass (Aibd) international airport, denounce the plight they are now facing for resettlement.

At night, the Aibd is really lighted while local populations are plunged into darkness and drink rainwater,” said Abdou Aziz Diouf, secretary general of the Sam Sa Momel movement and the forum’s co-organizer as reported byL’As du jour.

He recalls that “there are some issues in the compensation process. That’s why people still refuse to join the resettlement site which belongs to farmers who have never been compensated. Many people affected by the toll motorway have not been compensated,” Sénéweb indicated.

Moreover, Moussa Felix Sow, general coordinator of the civil forum and the event’s co-organizer emphasized that “it’s important to talk with populations living around these facilities and preserve their interests for them to not feel sacrificed”.
