Tunisia: A new system to provide land deeds

Friday, 03 November 2017 16:11

Since last October 31, it is possible in Tunisia to collect land deeds directly at specific agencies, unlike in the past when this was only possible at the beneficiary’s place of origin. This was revealed in a statement from the minister of State domains and land affairs, Mabrouk Kourchid (picture).

The new service will enable the provision of deeds without referring to the place of origin. The minister attested of this by, instantly, on the spot, withdrawing a personal land certificate of his place of origin, in the Medenine governorate, at the Ben Arous land certificate provision office,” news website Kapitalis said.

In his statement, the minister added that “the new measure aims at improving land management through the expansion of the related database; this is one of the ministry’s strategic priorities. This strategy was especially developed to better service provided to citizens, enabling them get a land certificate at any regional land office”.

This new measure is another step towards the government’s objective to dematerialize, by 2018, all land-related procedures in Tunisia. In this framework, Jamel Ayari, land property registrar, announced the launching of an online service platform and that of an e-signature infrastructure.
