The Nigerian Ministry of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma (photo), forecast an economic growth of at least 7% by 2020, under the medium-term economic recovery plan.
“Our goal is to have an economy with low inflation, stable exchange rates, and a diversified and inclusive growth,” the minister said in a statement.
According to him, the plan's top priorities are agriculture, food security, energy, small businesses as well as industrialization and stabilizing the macroeconomic environment.
Let’s recall that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in its World Economic Outlook report, predicted that the country’s GDP will only grow by 0.8% this year and 2.3% in 2018. A projection which contradicts World Bank’s which said Nigeria’s economy will expand by 1% growth in 2017.
