The Federal Urban Job Creation and Food Security Agency revealed that it has created 119,931 jobs in the country, in the first quarter of the Ethiopian 2017/18 fiscal year started last July.
With this performance the agency has thus achieved at 68.61% its job creation target for the period. Indeed, it initially aimed for 174,810 jobs.
According to the entity, 44.6% of jobs created over the period of reference are mainly in manufacturing microbusinesses.
Lauding the figures, the President of the Urban Development and Construction Standing Committee, Fufi Dilgasa, has however urged the agency to work more to boost its performances; but most especially, to improve its monitoring of and support to microenterprises, by collaborating with regional authorities and other actors involved in the job creation and business support process.
