Amid rising concerns regarding his capacity to rule the country, Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari (photo), once again, travelled to U.K. for medical examinations, spokesman to president, Femi Adesina revealed on May 7.
“Government will continue to function normally under the able leadership” of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Adesina said.
While the president left on Sunday, the duration of his stay in London is to be determined by his doctors. The leader however assured Nigerians that there is no cause for worry.
Since he came into office, it is the fourth time that President Buhari passes the baton to his Vice President due to health issues. The most recent case being at the beginning of the year where he left for seven weeks. In sight of the situation, officials seek to prevent the repetition of the 2010 scenario where political infighting broke out after late-President Umaru Yar’Adua passed away, after being sick for months.
