Côte d’Ivoire will benefit from $154 million provided by the USA to combat AIDS, a statement from the US embassy to the country indicated yesterday May 7.
According to the information relayed by Xinhua, this financing which will be disbursed from next October to September 2019, should help reduce the country’s prevalent rate which is 2.7%. US authorities said that once completed, the financing program should considerably reduce HIV infection and HIV-related deaths and help the Ivorian government achieve an HIV/AIDS-free generation.
Let’s note that since 2004, the West African country has received a total of $1.6 billion in funding to fight HIV and authorities hope to fully eradicate the disease by 2020.
