The Senegalese government will invest CFA30 billion in a program to foster youths and women entrepreneurship and employment, through a better access to land for women. This was stated by the President Macky Sall (photo), speaking yesterday March 08 on the sidelines of the international women’s day.
“We will launch a CFA30 billion program at the end of March, with the objective to empower youths and women entrepreneurship and employment. We will resume consultations on gender approach basis so that the rural woman or any woman in general could have access to land, after the land reform,” he said in a statement reported by Agence de Presse sénégalaise.
Once completed, the program called UNIFORSHE (United for her) should allow the increase of women’s contribution to the country’s economy. To this end, the President wants to set an inclusive and participative approach.
“This struggle to involve women in the development of our country, security and the respect of human rights should be everyone’s concern. Much remains to be done for women’s empowerment and emancipation, especially in rural areas,” he added.
