Benin and Rwanda will be the two African countries to benefit from the next sustainable development goals program initiated by IMF, Xinhua revealed on April 6, 2018.
According to Victor Gaspar, Director of IMF's Fiscal Affairs Department, the Bretton Woods institution could adapt its financing to the targeted countries’ needs (in line with their national and sectoral development strategies) with this program.
In order to enable these countries to achieve SDGs by 2030, the Bretton Woods institution plans to set a public expenditure needs assessment strategy, in health, education and infrastructure sectors, which are drivers of a “sustained and inclusive” economic growth.
To date, no information has been given on the amount of this program whose implementation should start this year. Let’s recall that only five countries, around the world, are targeted by this project.
