The US government, through its Center for Disease Control, approved $37 million in aid for Ethiopia to fight the coronavirus pandemic. The information was reported on May 8 by the US ambassador to the country, Michael Raynor (pictured).
According to US authorities, the money will primarily be used to strengthen health care and equip laboratories for large scale testing. “As we have done time and time again, the United States will continue to support others during their time of greatest need. The COVID-19 pandemic is no different. And both during and after this crisis, we will remain steadfastly alongside our Ethiopian friends and partners to help build a brighter future for all Ethiopians,” Raynor said.
On May 10, official data reported 239 confirmed cases of covid-19 in Ethiopia, 99 recovered patients, and 5 deaths.
