Seven leaders of the various DR Congo’s opposition parties namely Moïse Katumbi, Jean-Pierre Bemba, Vital Kamerhe, Adolphe Muzito, Freddy Matungulu, Félix Tshisekedi, and Martin Fayulu met in Geneva, Switzerland, to choose who would represent them during the coming presidential elections in their country.
At the end of the discussions, they chose Martin Fayulu. "I have six other leaders around me. We cover the whole territory and I have a broad base in the whole country. We think that we can beat the candidate of the Common Front For Congo", the chosen leader said.
Martin Fayulu will thus face Emmanuel Ramazani Shadary, candidate of the ruling coalition.
Born in Kinshasa where he is a deputy, Mr. Fayulu is a fierce critic of Joseph Kabila and of Mobutu before him. He attended Paris XII university where he graduated with a master in Economics; Paris Business School and the European University of America in San Francisco, California, where he got his MBA. Most of the 62 year old politician’s career was in the oil company ExxonMobil.
