While several African countries are experiencing an uprise in the number of Covid-19 infections, the Africa Center for Disease Control and Prevention announced that as of Dec 11, 2020, the continent had a little more than 2.3 million cases and nearly 2 million recoveries with a death toll of 55,265 people.

The top 3 most affected countries on the continent by cases are South Africa (836,764 cases), Morocco (391,529 cases), and Egypt (115,360).

By cases-to-death ratio, the most affected countries are Tunisia, with 107,814 cases and 3,758 deaths, Algeria, with 90,579 cases and 2,564 deaths, Ethiopia, with 115,360 cases and 1,779 deaths, and Kenya, with 90,305 cases and 1,568 deaths.

The number of cases is on the rise again due to the second wave of contamination that has broken out in several countries, particularly in the Maghreb and South Africa.
