Twin blast from suicide bombers at the University of Maiduguri on Monday has left four people dead and over 17 injured.
The attack which took place around 5:00 am was said to have occurred in two different locations within the University.
According to the Spokesman from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), AbdulKadir Ibrahim, officials have been mobilized to the university campus, Punch news reports.
“A mosque near Gate 1 and one other location around Gate 5 were targeted during the early hours of today. Rescue and security officials are on site, triage and causality evacuation concluded. The incident occurred around 5am during Subhi prayer at the mosque. 2 people and 2 suicide bombers were confirmed dead (total of four) and 17 injured at the time of response,” he said.
This is the first major attack on the University after several failed attempts by Boko Haram terrorists, since insurgency began over seven years ago.
