(Ecofin Agency) - In Morocco, the agricultural inclusive and sustainable development support program (PADIDFA) will benefit from a €200 million loan granted by African Development Bank.
This initiative, which is in line with the Green Morocco Plan launched in 2008, aims to boost job creation in rural areas by reviving agricultural value chain.
“This project will increase agricultural exports to MAD45 billion by 2030 and save 990 million m3 of water,” Leila Farah Mokaddem (photo), the Bank's country manager in Morocco, explains.
“By 2020, the project is also expected to mobilize more than MAD4 billion of private investment for the agricultural sector to ultimately create tens of thousands of jobs for young people and women in rural areas,” she adds.
Let’s recall that agriculture accounts for 15% of Moroccan GDP.
