Last December 14, Tunisia has initiated a land reform aiming to “tackle the challenges of the sector”. This was reported by Webmanager Center quoting the minister of State Domains and Land Affairs, Mabrouk Korchid (picture).
“The first axis of this reform consists in enacting the State domain code whose elaboration was completed and will be submitted to the council of ministers,” the official said.
“The minister also added that his office plans to implement a number of major reforms, similar to the real property code, to mitigate land spoliation which has become more significant since the country’s uprising,” the website highlighted.
Other measures are also expected, such as those related to the agricultural lands management, the recovery of illegally occupied lands and the archiving of land documentation.
