(Ecofin Agency) - Last week-end in Abidjan was held a panel to teach young Ivoirians about land management, according to Agence ivoirienne de Presse (AIP). Organized by the Friedrich Ebert foundation and the Ivorian Leaders Network (Réseau ivoirien des leaders - RIL), the workshop was themed: “How can youth contribute to the resolution of land issues in Côte d’Ivoire?”
“Land issues have become a chronic matter in Côte d’Ivoire. Youth has a major role to play in the consolidation of peace and cohesion, meaning, they must know about the law regulating land and carry out a sensitization campaign near parents for the best of all, because the future does not reside in conflict, but rather in dialogue,” said in this regard actors present at the panel. These included Law professor Dr Gbédé Jonathan, the deputy of Blolequin, Doho Simon and the former member of the Friedrich Ebert programme Génération à venir, Koudia Yobouet Simplice.
This panel it must be noted, was organized in a context where inter-ethnic conflicts are taking place in Western part of the country, conflicts revolving around the ownership and use of land resources, especially concerning the Goin-Bédé classified forest.
