In Rwanda, local and international tourism companies wishing to operate across the country can from now on obtain a license online. Interested firms can apply for one on www.tourismregulation.rw.
After testing this new mode of licence-awarding process in November 2016, Rwanda’s development board has decided to officially launch the project.
During the test, applicants, a group of firms handpicked in the framework of the experimentation, submitted a demand for a license online providing a set of documents and paid some fees which were a little above $97. After this stage, the development board proceeded to physical inspections of the applicants.
Though the law regulating Rwanda’s tourism industry officially came into force on July 28, 2014, tourism operators have been operating without a license.
