The West African Development Bank (BOAD) will disburse around $198.6 million to support member countries within the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU).
According to Xinhua which reported the news June 28, this financing will be broken into 7 long and mid-term loans estimated at $161.2 million, an $8.8 million short term loan, a refinancing line of $17.7 million as well as two equity investments of $10.6 million. It targets eleven new operations in infrastructure, agribusiness and energy.
In this wake, a $17.7 million food processing plant will be set in Togo, while $6.2 million will be earmarked to expand a shea-butter production plant in Burkina Faso. Another $62.1 million will serve to develop two road projects in Niger and Mali. Senegal will benefit from solar facilities estimated at $16.6 million added to $22.8 million for electricity sector improvement. Moreover, $35.5 million will be injected in a water purification plant in Côte d'Ivoire.
Let’s point out that BOAD also announced stake acquisition in other investment funds aimed at promoting businesses in the sub-region.
