Moroccan city Meknes has been selected to host next November 8 to 10, the eleventh annual seminar of the Mediterranean Land Research and Exchange Network (FONCIMED). The event entitled “allocation of financial resources in Mediterranean areas: uses of law and forms of regulation” has been organized in collaboration with the Moulay Ismaïl University.
It will “focus on the land regulation issue in its legal, but also social, spatial and economic aspects," site LesEco.ma. relayed. The workshop’s promotors pointed out that “the various tensions related to land management prompt local claims that directly query the forms of land resources allocation, whether in legal systems or social and economic regulation forms. These issues will thus be addressed from three main axes: public decision-making mechanisms for land allocation and redistribution, legal practices for land rights management and forms of social and economic regulation of land as a scarce resource”.
FONCIMED, created in 2007, is a multidisciplinary and inter-institutional network for exchanges and comparisons of experiences on land issues, open to researchers, students and actors from countries sharing the Mediterranean.
