MTN group signed a 5-year agreement with Ericsson for the deployment of new products and Mobile Money services in 13 African and Middle Eastern countries via the Ericsson Wallet platform.
According to Ericsson, this platform lets mobile telephony operators reuse their existing assets and merge their telecom offers and financial services for a complete solution that meets end-clients’ mobile business needs.
MTN Group indicates that Ericsson Wallet will help clients keep, transfer and withdraw their funds, pay for public and private services as well as use financial services like savings or credit.
Serigne Dioum, MTN Group’s executive for financial services, commented that, “a stable, secure and reliable platform is one of the fundamentals to building successful mobile financial services. Through this partnership, we look forward to working with Ericsson to further enhance our value proposition and expand our ecosystem.”
