Liquid Intelligent Technologies, the provider of high-speed optical fiber connectivity, announced on Wednesday, June 2, it has deployed a total of 100,000 km of optical fiber across Africa. At the beginning of 2021, the telecom company said it had 89,989 km of fiber connecting 14 countries, mainly in sub-Saharan Africa.
Nic Rudnick, Group Managing Director of Liquid Intelligent Technologies, said: "Over the years, we have successfully connected countries through our broadband connectivity and digital services. Our successful partnerships with customers ensured that today we are recognized as a technology company that has brought local businesses access to Cloud capabilities, world-class Cyber Security solutions, in addition to our existing telecoms and connectivity capability."
The expansion of Liquid Intelligent Technologies' pan-African fiber network is timely for the company's ambition to be the leading provider of connectivity solutions on the continent. The explosion in data consumption, driven by the growing interest in the Internet, is proof of the many investments made in improving connectivity in Africa over the past 15 years.
According to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), new consumption patterns for telecom services will proliferate as early as 2021, mainly due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Liquid Intelligent Technologies estimates that its fiber infrastructure will impact more than 100 million people in 643 cities across the continent, helping to make digital inclusion a reality for businesses and individuals and accelerate the ongoing digital transformation in Africa.
