Talia Limited, a UK-based company that provides communication solutions via satellite, announced it has successfully completed testing of its Ka-band High Throughput Satellites (HTS) in five new African countries namely Cameroon, DR Congo, Gambia, Ghana, and Congo.
Talia also announced the signing of contracts for the resale of its satellite capacity with three local resellers. In Africa, Talia works with governments, Internet Service Providers, and other operators to reduce the digital divide and provide low-cost and affordable high-speed connectivity for a large number of people as well as to key sectors.
“With low-cost and self-installed antennas as small as 74cm, Talia’s Ka-band platform represents a robust and affordable solution that can reach places where fiber is not yet available while providing comparable high speeds at very reasonable costs,” says Ayes Amewudah, VP Sales of Talia.
Commenting on the choice of Ka-band for its new strategy, Mr Amewudah said: “Ka-band is the most cost-effective way of securing connectivity until terrestrial networks extend further into rural areas. It provides a user-friendly, self-reliant solution that can be deployed anywhere, regardless of the locations or existing infrastructure.”
