The National Communications Institute of Mozambique (INCM) says it is planning new sanctions against non-registered subscribers. According to these new measures, subscribers who are not yet registered have until tomorrow, November 6, to comply or their mobile number will simply be deactivated.
Such measures were already deployed three years ago to clean up the telecom subscriber base in the country. At that time, the regulator deactivated about 5 million subscribers. INCM says the identification procedure will also put an end to the illegal sale of SIM Cards.
The regulator also announced the development of “platforms to receive, process and transmit reports of acts of fraud and defamation committed via mobile phones." This solution will allow the identification of numbers, the owners, and the operators that issued them.
