Enugu State government is ramping up its digital governance efforts by collaborating with the public enterprise Galaxy Backbone. The partnership, signed last week, aims to enhance connectivity across 265 smart schools, 160 primary healthcare centers, the state secretariat, and the governor's office spanning 260 districts. Galaxy Backbone will provide data center, cloud services, and other ICT solutions tailored to Enugu State's needs.
This initiative aligns with Enugu's strategy to integrate digital technologies into public administration. In June, the state launched a program to train civil servants in digital skills in collaboration with the federal government, U.S. tech firm Microsoft, and incubator Tech4Dev.
Enugu's digital initiatives are part of broader federal ambitions to increase ICT's contribution to GDP from 19.89% in Q1 2024 to 25% in the coming years.
