Senegal to elaborate a strategy for development of exports of IT services

Wednesday, 10 October 2018 20:53

Representatives of Senegal's government and managers of ICT companies are meeting in Dakar, Senegal for consultations to adopt a national strategy of IT-enabled business process outsourcing. The meetings that started October 9, 2018, are to end today October 10, 2018, and is being organized by the International Trade Corporation (ITC) that sees potential in Senegal.

Thanks to the strategic orientation and the action plan that should be elaborated, Senegal can have a precious tool that will transform it into a leader in the commercialization of digital services in Africa.

For Antoine Ngom (photo), president of Senegal's organization of IT professionals (OPTIC), “Senegal’s digital revolution passes through key drivers namely, Artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain, digitization and internet of things; so many markets for which a real action plan is needed for more competition”.

The elaboration of such national strategy is financially supported by the Netherlands Trust Funds (NTF) IV, a fund aimed at support of development in the IT sector financed by Netherlands’ foreign ministry.

In Senegal, it is executed by the ITC in collaboration with the Senegalese exports promotion agency ASEPEX and OPTIC.
