The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) just completed the renovation of five IT labs for the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology.
Via this Ush1.9 billion investment (according to pmldaily.com ), the communications commission wants to promote IT teaching in the country, reduce expenses dedicated to expatriated professionals and create jobs for nationals.
According to Fred Otunnu, director of corporate affairs at the UCC, the five IT labs will help reduce the IT experts gap by providing a solution for IT research and innovation.
Even though the investment seems huge, the UCC estimates that it is well invested. In that regard, Fred Otunnu indicates that the return on investment will be noticed by 2021.
