Egypt telecommunications regulator has slammed a €528 thousand fine on Vodafone Egypt for interrupting its services in the evening of June 3, 2019, for many hours.
According to the regulator, this interruption constitutes a violation of service quality text stipulated in the license agreements. It indicates that it would not hesitate to take adequate measures to guarantee the quality of telecom services provided to citizens even if it means slamming fines on companies that violate their agreements.
Apart from the fine it will pay to the public treasury, Vodafone Egypt has also been required to reimburse its clients affected by this interruption. Since June 6, 2019, the operator has been sending text messages to its clients to apologize for the inconveniences created. It also offered free internet bundles as compensation.
