International telecommunications services provider MGI Global Services has signed a 5-year agreement with satellite internet provider Avanti Communications for broadband internet provision in South Sudan, Chad and Angola.

MGI Global Services indicates that its goal with this partnership is to provide quality internet in rural areas with poor coverage.

Ilija Reymond, MGI managing partner, explains that this partnership with Avanti Communications shows his group’s commitment “to providing governments, NGOs, businesses and communities across Sub-Saharan Africa with reliable and top tier telecommunications services.

According to the partner, this commitment will be fulfilled with Avanti’s HYLAS 4 satellite that enables MGI Global Services to “provide customers with affordable high speed and quality broadband flexible Ka-band satellite technology.

Avanti’s HYLAS 4 was sent in orbit on April 5, 2018. Manufactured by Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems, it covers the Subsaharan region.
