South Africa : Helios Towers to build thousand towers in the next three years, in preparation for the 5G

Helios Towers is preparing to build thousand towers in preparation for the 5G South Africa wants to launch by 2020.

These equipment that will consolidate its presence in the country, after its entrance in January 2019 via Helios Towers South Africa, will also improve the provision of new generation services to the population.

Helios Towers’ managing director Kash Pandya (photo) indicated that apart from the construction of new towers, the firm will also acquire towers from operators like MTN Group Ltd and Vodacom Group Ltd to expand its base in the country. According to the manager, South Africa has about 30,000 telecom towers, 10% of which are managed by private firms. The market thus offers numerous growth opportunities.

Helios Towers is preparing to build 500 telecom towers in South Africa by end 2019, and plans to invest about $100 million in the next three years.
