Helios Towers is preparing to build thousand towers in preparation for the 5G South Africa wants to launch by 2020.

Helios Towers’ managing director Kash Pandya (photo) indicated that apart from the construction of new towers, the firm will also acquire towers from operators like MTN Group Ltd and Vodacom Group Ltd to expand its base in the country. According to the manager, South Africa has about 30,000 telecom towers, 10% of which are managed by private firms. The market thus offers numerous growth opportunities.
