US company Honeywell has signed a memorandum of understanding with the mobile operator Etisalat Misr to deploy digital solutions in the new administrative capital of Egypt, currently under construction 45 kilometers east of Cairo. The agreement was initialed last week during the Intersec 2020 conference held in Dubai.
Honeywell will provide innovative and connected technologies to improve the safety, security and energy efficiency of the new City Operations Centre (COC). It will also deploy advanced Internet of Things (IoT) software and hardware solutions.
The deal will also see the US company power advanced management systems for smart parking and smart utility services for electricity, water and gas. This will include street lighting, smart metering, smart grid monitoring services, and integration with smart digital signage, billing and financial management systems.
The partnership with Etisalat reflects an extension of Honeywell's scope of intervention in the new administrative capital. In February 2019, in collaboration with MTI, Honeywell announced it would provide security and surveillance systems throughout the new Egyptian administrative capital.
