Konnect Africa brings satellite internet to DR Congo
Thursday, 29 November 2018 17:16

Eutelsat announces that it will launch satellite internet in the Democratic Republic of Congo via its service Konnect Africa. Currently, the service is available in six towns in Congo via a range of eight offers to particulars and companies.

Apart from these offers, Konnect Africa will provide a new wifi service called Konnect Wifi which will let companies offer high broadband internet access at high traffic places like hospitals, schools, universities and warehouses. This investment should help increase internet penetration rate which was 6.1% in the country according to the International Telecommunications Union (ICT Development Index 201).

"Thanks to this satellite technology, we will be able to offer, as of today, performant connectivity solutions to Congolese. A Key success factor to respond to the specificities of a country which constitutes one of the main African market for satellite internet, we are relying on top-notch local partners to distribute our turnkey offerings", Jean-Claude Tshipama (photo), managing director of Konnect Africa, explains.
