"We are one of the best-positioned countries in SADC. We have always been concerned about financial inclusion, just as it is with other countries, we think it is now with the use of mobile phones that we can promote financial inclusion", Pedro de Castro e Silva declared Speaking on the subject during the 8th meeting of payment systems of central banks of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), held on November 28-29, 2018 in Luanda under the aegis of Angolan Central Bank.
The Central bank started collaborating with World Bank to introduce a legislation authorising mobile payments in the country in March 2018, Pedro de Castro e Silva revealed. He explained that the Bretton Woods institution was committed to the success of this ambition so that the country could launch mobile money payment systems like many African countries.
