Engen, an Africa-based energy company focusing on the downstream refined petroleum products market and related businesses, reported that it has made its third major investment in Namibia’s fuel supply this year, the Ondangwa fuel depot. The fuel depot, is situated in the northern portion of the country, is intended for 2016.
Construction of the facility is to begin before the end of the year and is scheduled for completion around April 2016. Petroleumafrica reports.
The depot which follows a flurry of investment activity in the country in 2015, started with Engen’s upgrade of its Walvis Bay depot. The company added an additional 20,000 cubic meters to its storage capacity. This was also followed by the completion of construction of the Grootfontein depot in March.
Additionally, Engen upgraded its long-haul Truck Stop in Rundu in the north-east of Namibia, catering for trucks moving along the Trans-Kalahari towards Katima Mulilo, Zambia and further north, following economic activity in the region.
According to Drikus Kotze, Engen GM, International Business Division, the company’s modernization and expansion initiatives in the country, totaling approximately N$150 million, forms part of its larger south-to-central African fuel supply strategy.
