Following reports of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company’s (EGAS) inability to sign a tender for the purchase of two liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments expected in April, the company on Monday announced that it has managed to secure the two LNG cargoes for delivery in April regardless of its earlier difficulties.
According to EGAS chairman, Khaled Abdel Badie, the first which will be delivered in April 1 to 7 and the second in April 27 to 28 windows, have been secured. He however, did not disclose the names of the winners.
EGAS has been struggling to fill the tender it had issued in March, as suppliers are reluctant to organize cargoes on a short notice.
The company had chosen Trafigura as the supplier in the second April slot, but the agreement had encountered some problems after EGAS made effort to change the delivery to the middle of April. As at yesterday, the positions were still unoccupied as EGAS is believed to still be discussing with possible suppliers.
Badie told LNG World news that negotiations as regards the two 170,000 cbm cargoes are in the concluding stages.
