Angola LNG has cancelled an international supply tender, weeks after the plant loaded its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo purchased by Vitol, a company spokeswoman revealed.
“I can confirm that we have cancelled the next tender with the objective of rescheduling it to align it with our operations. We expect to reissue the tender shortly,” she said.
The Chevron-led $10 billion LNG plant located at Soyo resumed operations recently after it was shut down in April 2014 due to a major rupture on a flare line. The company loaded its first cargo in early June, on board the 161,000 cubic meters Sonangol Sambizanga LNG vessel. Angola LNG has said that the facility is to load more LNG and LPG cargoes as part of the commissioning and testing process and will be handed over from the contractor Bechtel sooner or later.
Chevron operates Angola LNG with a 36.4%, alongside Sonangol with 22.8%, Total with 13.6%, BP with 13.6% and Eni also with 13.6% interest, LNG World News reports.
