Nigeria: NLNG names new LNG carrier

Nigeria LNG has named a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier constructed by Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries for Bonny Gas Transport. The LNG Abuja II, 175,000 cbm vessel is the fifth out of the six vessels just obtained by NLNG to be commissioned.

According to NLNG, the vessel is also the third vessel constructed by Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) on a four vessels contract, signed between BGT and SHI in 2013.

The just named vessel is 293 meters long with a breadth of 48 meters and it was graded by Bureau Veritas.

Nigeria LNG is a joint venture between Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) with 49% interest, Shell with 25.6%,Total with 15 % and Eni with 10 %. It operates the Bonny Island liquefaction and export plant which has the capacity to produce about 22 mtpa of chilled gas, Drillbit Media reports.
