Nigeria to continue losing 249,000 bpd as works on Forcados will last till June

Thursday, 14 April 2016 12:48

Renovation work on the pipeline feeding Forcados crude oil, is estimated to last till June, the Cables news reports.

The facility which is operated by Shell was damaged by an explosion on February 21, causing a leak that warranted it to stop loadings.

The explosion had disturbed production and exports at Forcados, which has the capacity to export about 400,000 bpd, and was planned to export some 249,000 bopd in February and March 2016.

However, the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has cautioned vandals exploding oil and gas installations to abstain from it immediately or the same faith as Boko Haram. I am aware that in the last two weeks, the national grid collapsed a number of times. I hope this message will reach the vandals and saboteurs who are blowing up pipelines and installations. We will deal with them the way we dealt with Boko Haram,” Buhari said.
