Nigeria: NNPC shut down Oil flows to Kaduna and Warri refineries after attacks

Tuesday, 19 January 2016 14:02

Following attacks on pipelines during the weekend, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has decided to cease crude oil flows to two refineries out of its four refineries.

According to NNPC’s spokesman, Ohi Alegbe, the refineries in the northern city of Kaduna and Warri, in the southern Niger Delta, were affected.

We have shut down flows for now, the military are on top of the matter,” he said,

Nigeria has been beleaguered by violence, corruption and poor infrastructure in spite of being Africa's largest crude exporter. Before the attacks, officials were confident that the country’s four refineries would produce as much as 30% of gasoline needs in Q1 of 2016.

However, no group has come out to claim responsibility for the attacks, Energy Mix reports.
