In Ivory Coast, President Alassane Ouattara appointed Robert Beugré Mambé as prime minister and head of government. The presidency signed and published the decree confirming the appointment on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
The decision came fourteen days after authorities accepted the resignation of Mambé and his government following the legislative elections held on December 27.
Robert Beugré Mambé, aged 74, assumed the role of prime minister in October 2023. He played a central role in defining national policy priorities, including the preparation of the 2026–2030 National Development Plan, the supervision of major infrastructure projects, and the organization of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations.
The reappointment took place as Ivory Coast sought to strengthen national unity, accelerate economic momentum, and maintain its leadership role in West Africa.
The decree stated that authorities expect the formation of a new government “as soon as possible.”
