(Ecofin Agency) - In Côte d'Ivoire, the daily "L'Inter" has been suspended for 3 days. The decision from the National Press Council (CNP) dates back to 2 October 2015. The regulatory body has also slapped a suspension of one month on journalist Cyrille Djedjed. During this period, his journalist and media professional ID will taken away.
The newspaper and the journalist are sanctioned for an article published on 29 September, entitled "The Bété did not come out" (Les Bété ne sont pas sortis). In his text, Cyrille Djedjed stated that the indigenous population showed no interest in the state visit by President Alassane Ouattara in Gagnoa in the Gôh region, where Laurent Gbagbo and Charles Blé Goudé, both on trial at the International Criminal Court, come from.
In his coverage, the journalist reports the following comments: "This meeting does not concern us", "We are waiting for our president Laurent Gbagbo" or "The Bété did not come put in attendance. It is not easy to see Laurent Gbagbo and Blé Goudé at the ICC. These are Bété who are at The Hague."
