(Ecofin Agency) - Over the past 10 years, US-exports to Morocco have tripled in volume since 2006 when the two nations signed a free-trade agreement. This was revealed in a study conducted by the International Trade Administration (ITA), the US State department in charge of international trade.
In fact, according to statistics from the institution, American exports amounted to $482 million from 2003 to 2005 and grew by 328% between 2013 and 2015 standing at $2.1 billion.
The United States export to the kingdom mainly oil, car or plane parts and food products. It imports from Morocco fertilizers, electrical machinery, and agricultural products mostly fruits and vegetables.
With an export value of $510 million, Texas leads the top 5 of US States exporters to Morocco, followed by Louisiana, Virginia, Washington and California.
“Morocco has done everything possible to reinforce and diversify its economy. Choosing Morocco as the first African beneficiary of ALE by the US was a smart move, and I believe the US should keep enjoying this strong relationship in the years to come,” said Edward Gabriel, former US Ambassador to Morocco.
