SCZone signs deal with Eroglu Global Holding for a new packaging plant in Qantara West
Project targets both Egypt’s domestic market and exports
Investment adds to Eroglu’s existing industrial projects in the zone
Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority (SCZone) said on January 20 it has signed an agreement with Turkish industrial group Eroglu Global Holding to establish a carton and packaging manufacturing plant. The project represents a total investment of $175 million and will be developed on a 7-hectare site in the Qantara West industrial zone.
According to SCZone, the future plant will have a daily production capacity of 10 million one-liter aseptic cartons and 75,000 cartons, along with annual output of about 400,000 tons of carton sheets. Aseptic cartons are designed to safely preserve liquid food products such as milk, juice, beverages, soups, and sauces without the need for immediate refrigeration.
Production from the facility will be split evenly between supplying the domestic market and exports. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, chairman of SCZone, said the project would help support food industry supply chains and strengthen the integration of local production processes.
The investment further expands Eroglu’s footprint in the Qantara West industrial zone, where the group already operates several projects. Through this new project, Eroglu is positioning itself to capture a larger share of Egypt’s growing paper packaging market, driven by rising demand for sustainable packaging solutions and the expansion of e-commerce. According to estimates by private consulting and research firm Mordor Intelligence, the market, valued at $1.98 billion in 2025, is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 4.05% to reach $2.52 billion by 2031.
