The Ghana Chamber of Cannabis Industry (Cannacham) plans to lead a trade mission to the Czech Republic in April 2026 to establish direct contacts with Czech manufacturers, regulators, and technology providers. The plan follows a recent meeting between Cannacham and the Trade Department of the Czech Republic’s Embassy in Accra.
The initiative is part of a cooperation strategy aimed at supporting the development of Ghana’s legal cannabis industry. In a statement published on its website on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, Cannacham said discussions with the Czech side covered all segments of the cannabis value chain, including medical cannabis, industrial hemp, research, technology transfer, capacity building, and investment.
Mark G. Darko, Chief Executive Officer of Cannacham, said the meeting marked an important step toward building strategic international partnerships to support the responsible growth of Ghana’s cannabis industry, adding that the Czech Republic’s experience in regulation, research, and technology offers valuable opportunities for collaboration.
The Czech Republic is one of Europe’s leading markets for medical cannabis, with strong research and processing capabilities. Its cannabis market across all uses, including medical, adult use, and CBD, ranks tenth in Europe, behind Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Belgium.

According to estimates by Prohibition Partners, a consulting firm specializing in legal cannabis markets, the Czech cannabis market was valued at $41 million in 2024 and is expected to record average annual growth of more than 5% through 2028. It remains to be seen whether this potential partnership with the Czech Republic will deliver tangible results for Ghana’s cannabis sector, which is still in a structuring phase.
