Tunisia plans to open its first fully digital hospital to modernize healthcare delivery. The project was announced after President Kaïs Saïed met with Health Minister Mustapha Ferjani on October 29, 2025.
According to local media reports, the digital hospital will integrate telemedicine, remote consultations, digital imaging, and artificial intelligence for diagnosis and hospital management.
The Health Ministry has already begun preparatory work, connecting several public hospitals through a digital network and piloting teleconsultation services in regions such as Tabarka.
The project is part of Tunisia’s national digital transformation strategy for the health sector, aimed at improving the quality and continuity of care while narrowing disparities between urban and rural areas. By digitizing medical processes, Tunisia also seeks to enhance data traceability, speed up patient care, and cut administrative costs.
As of early 2025, 10.5 million Tunisians, representing an 84.9 percent internet penetration rate, had access to the internet, providing a strong foundation for the rollout of connected healthcare services.
