  • Federal Education Ministry launches a fully digital diploma verification system
  • Applicants now submit and track requests online, ending in-person procedures
  • Reform aims to improve speed, data integrity, and transparency

Nigeria has introduced a fully digital system for diploma authentication and evaluation, replacing a process long criticized for delays and complexity.

The Federal Ministry of Education announced last week that all applications will now go through a dedicated online platform. Applicants must create an account, upload required documents, and monitor their files remotely. Educational institutions must send transcripts directly from official email addresses to ensure the authenticity of submitted records.

The ministry said the reform aligns with the federal government’s broader digital transformation agenda. It aims to improve efficiency, strengthen data integrity, and support decision-making based on reliable information in the education sector.

The move addresses persistent concerns around the previous system, which often involved lengthy procedures and administrative bottlenecks. Authorities now aim to streamline operations and raise service standards.

By centralizing the process on a digital platform, the government expects shorter processing times, better data management, and greater transparency across the system.
