• Ghana’s government will host a TikTok training on October 12 for 120 creators to improve engagement, reach, and monetization.
• This is the first time the Ghanaian government has facilitated direct collaboration between TikTok and local creators.
• Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) launched a payment mechanism in September to help TikTok creators receive earnings transparently.
Ghana is deepening its commitment to the digital economy by fostering local content creation. Mobile internet growth in Africa depends on platforms’ ability to stimulate relevant and engaging content, and in Ghana, digital tools are becoming central for self-expression, entrepreneurship, and connectivity.
On October 12, TikTok will conduct a training session in Ghana to strengthen the skills of 120 local content creators. Samuel Nartey George, Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation, announced the initiative earlier this week during a meeting with members of the New Media Association of Ghana, the Ghana Bloggers Association, and independent creators.
A technical team from TikTok’s South African office will deliver the program, focusing on optimizing platform use to increase engagement, boost reach, and improve monetization opportunities.
“This will be the first time a government in Ghana has facilitated TikTok’s direct engagement with local creators. The training will give you practical insights into how algorithms work, how to boost your engagement, and how to monetise effectively,” George said.
The move reflects the government’s broader strategy to support Ghana’s fast-growing digital creative industry.
In September, Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) unveiled a payment mechanism to ensure transparent and secure income flows for TikTok creators. Leveraging its partnerships with Mastercard, Visa, mobile money operators, and bank accounts, GCB positions itself as the primary payment gateway for managing creators’ revenue, including virtual gifts.
